Game Builder Policy Editor

A Game Builder Policy defines a closed editing catalog for a published Builder game. For a room-decoration game, permit one Scene and a few furniture Objects before opening wider editing tools.

Prerequisites

Use the Full edition with Advanced resources visible. Builder authoring and its runtime are withheld in restricted editions. Prepare reusable Objects and Scenes, then open a Game Builder Policy.

Define the Allowed Catalog

  1. Set Policy ID and Revision. Preserve identity when updating a publication whose player creations should remain compatible.
  2. Turn on Publish Builder Mode for the policy. Decide whether Player Saving, Creation Download, and Creation Import are permitted.
  3. Add a Scene and choose whether players can edit its base or clone it. Add only the intended Toolbox Objects and Scene Templates.
  4. Select Player Tools, permitted Transform Axes, and Editable Zones.
  5. Set Budgets, run Publish Check, and fix blocking findings. Save and reopen the policy.

The catalog grants specific operations. Including a resource in the project does not automatically put it in the player’s toolbox. Player-Tunable Variables must refer to declared state and have deliberate limits.

Choose the Publication Path

Game Settings also has a Builder Mode switch with an automatic Toybox. When that switch is on, the automatic Toybox is used and authored policies are not the exported policy path. Turn it off when using your explicit policy, and inspect the editor’s explanation before export.

Voxel Editing and Chip Studio/Coil-9 have separate controls for tools, catalogs, machines, instructions, imports, and permissions. Keep them disabled for the first room-decoration check. Add one capability at a time and repeat Publish Check.

Expected result: the exported Builder exposes only the selected catalog and operations, refuses disallowed edits, and respects budgets. Check normal editing, undo, play-my-version, return-to-original, and saving if allowed.

Troubleshooting

If the wrong toolbox appears, inspect the automatic Toybox switch and active policy. If an Object is absent, check the policy catalog and publish findings. If editing is refused, check Scene permission, zone, tool, axis, and budget.

If an older creation won’t import, compare game identity, policy revision, and catalog compatibility. Preserve its file while diagnosing the refusal. See Builder Mode and Guest Objects.
