Licensing Terms

Check your license before releasing a game. Your game might combine your own art with Myth’s bundled art; each has different distribution rights.

This page summarizes the End User License Agreement dated October 1, 2026. The complete agreement governs your license.

Edition Capabilities

Sections 2 through 4 distinguish the Playtest and Full editions:

Edition What You Can Do Publishing Boundary
Playtest, including Demo builds Create and edit Projects, save locally, export individual authored assets, and playtest locally. Distributable game publishing and Myth Pack creation are excluded.
Full Edition Create original Projects for personal, educational, or commercial use. Publish and sell original games, authored assets, code and Myth Packs under Section 5.

Playtest hides publishing and pack creation. Both editions can install Myth Packs. Native publishing creates a source project. Build it with the platform’s toolchain. See publishing targets.

Purchase and Updates

Full Edition has no recurring Myth license fee. Store account and entitlement rules still apply. Section 3 describes the non-expiring license; refunds, chargebacks and termination can end those rights under Section 13.

Section 7 includes Myth Engine updates and future major versions generally made available to Full Edition customers at no additional Myth license charge. This applies through the Authorized Store that issued your entitlement. It excludes separately sold successor products, services, add-ons, asset packs and third-party charges. Updates have no promised schedule. The policy does not promise continuing development.

Content Ownership and Seats

Section 5 keeps your original Projects yours, subject to your agreements with collaborators, employers or clients. In the example game, your own art remains your original work. Myth’s bundled art and Runtime remain licensed materials; your Project ownership does not transfer their ownership. Section 1 covers ownership of the Software itself.

Each Full Edition user normally needs a license. Section 3 allows different terms through an expressly permitted Store sharing feature or separate written license. Two teammates both using Full Edition normally need two licenses.

Distribution and Attribution

With a valid Full Edition license, Section 5 permits publishing original Projects without Myth royalties or revenue share. You remain responsible for Store fees, taxes, platform requirements and third-party content rights.

Content in the Example Distribution Rule
Your original art or code Full Edition permits distributing your original authored assets and code.
Runtime and permitted bundled art Include them inside a game lawfully exported by Full Edition, except where separate content terms expressly allow another use.
Bundled art offered as an asset pack or Myth Pack Sections 5 and 6 restrict repackaging it separately from a lawfully exported game.

Section 5 permits a truthful Made with Myth Engine statement. Other use of the name, logos or marks requires the Licensor’s prior written permission.

Sections 5 and 13 preserve Runtime rights already lawfully granted to recipients of distributed games. The agreement states exceptions for unlawful or infringing games and required withdrawals. Read the limits in those sections.

Third-Party Content

Read each asset and library license. Keep the notices that its license requires. Section 8 says the component’s own license controls if its terms conflict with the agreement.

The Chess Library lesson keeps Stockfish’s credits and licenses beside the project. Follow that published example for its Library setup and notices.

Read the complete agreement before distributing your game, then follow the publishing guide for export steps.
